William Zachs.

William Zachs is the Director of the Blackie House Library and Museum, a registered Scottish charity with a mission to bring Scottish culture to a wider audience through events, publications, exhibitions and collaborative projects. Dr. Zachs has lived in Edinburgh for over 30 years, where he lectures on book history, writes about Scotland in the “long 18th century” and curates exhibitions. He is the author of The First John Murray and the Late Eighteenth-Century London Book TradeWithout Regard to Good Manners: A Biography of Gilbert Stuart, 1743-1786 and numerous other shorter works. In 2013, the University of Edinburgh awarded him an honorary Doctor of Letters for his contributions to book historical studies and book curation. He is a Fellow of the National Library of Scotland and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh.
